BECOME MEMBERS OF THE DANIEL & FLORENCE GUERLAIN CONTEMPORARY ART FOUNDATION’S “CERCLE DES AMIS”
In 2006, Daniel and Florence Guerlain created a contemporary drawing prize within the framework of their Foundation in the aim of encouraging and promoting the place of drawing in contemporary art, while allowing French or foreign artists, for whom drawing plays a significant part in their work, to pursue their creative work in this direction with the award of a financial endowment. They may or may not live in France but must entertain a privileged cultural link with this country via museums or art schools.
A selection committee comprised of 6 experts votes for 3 artists submitted in a second phase to an international jury of 9 members, all of whom are private collectors , who vote by secret ballot for the Prize’s winner. The members of the jury change every year.
The announcement of the winner’s name is made during the Salon du Dessin, in the Palais Brongniart, during a reception hosting the “amis du cercle”, the artists and collectors as well as French or foreign museums.
When becoming members of the “Cercle des Amis”
- You help to promote public awareness of the winning artist’s work and that of the 2 other selected artists as well as their recognition on the international scene
- You participate in the purchase of the winner’s work which the Foundation submits for approval to the Acquisitions Committee of the Musée national d’art moderne-Centre Pompidou
- You are invited to all the events concerning the prize and the artists as well as receptions and visits organized by the Foundation’ sponsors or by Florence and Daniel Guerlain
- You are invited to take part in trips to view drawings in foreign collections or in countries where museums are hosting the drawing donation that Florence and Daniel Guerlain made to the Musée national d’art moderne - Centre Pompidou, in 2012
The Foundation’s partnership with various museums enables you to take part in very private visits organized by these institutions.
